Square One Dream Seekers is established as an alternative to detention for a target group of minor respondents who would otherwise be detained in the Juvenile detention Center.
SODS will consist of 25 males and 15 females at a time
Minors from within the city of Memphis and Shelby County
Detention placement in the following instances:
o These young people will have minor charges of violation of probation matter and/or awaiting hearing or disposition.
o Minors who are apprehended on a warrant and presented to the court for disposition of the warrant.
o Minors with simple assault charges may be admitted, on a case by case basis.
SODS attendees will participate in weekly cognitive behavior therapeutic group counseling sessions, as well as individual sessions
SODS attendees are provided a light meal while in attendance in the evenings.SODS attendees are also eligible to participate and become an Opportunity Passport Dream Seeker
